The majority of the Hispanic Caucus members currently oppose even a one-year extension of the retuning worker exemption. This is because they want to deal with the H-2B issue as part of comprehensive immigration reform (CIR).
While PLANET supports CIR efforts, it is clear that it will be some time before Congress again addresses this issue — and that will be too late. It is critical to green industry businesses that the H-2B returning worker exemption be extended immediately.
Until Congress actually adjourns, we need you to call each member of the House Hispanic Caucus and impress upon them the importance of extending the returning worker exemption.
Call the congressional switchboard at (202) 225-3121. Ask to speak to the staff member who handles immigration issues in these offices. If you are uncertain about what to say, use the sample script on PLANET’s H-2B Toolkit at http://landcarenetwork.org/planetFile/pdfs/H2B_Script.pdf.
