Landing area
|
|
The part of the golf course fairway where most tee shots land

Large Construction Activity
|
|
As defined at 40 CFR 122.26(b)(14)(x), a large construction activity includes clearing, grading, and excavating resulting in a land disturbance that will disturb equal to or more than five acres of land or will disturb less than five acres of total land area but is part of a larger common plan of development or sale that will ultimately disturb equal to or more than five acres. Large construction activity does not include routine maintenance that is performed to maintain the original line and grade, hydraulic capacity, or original purpose of the site.

|

|
|

Lemma
|
|
The bract within a spikelet enclosing the germ side of a floret. A bract above the pair of glumes.

Ligule
|
|
A thin, often scarious projection from the summit of the leaf sheath in grasses; may be a membrane, a fringe of hairs, or absent.

Littoral
|
|
Of or pertaining to a shore, especially of the sea
|
|
|
Littoral drift
|
The sedimentary material moved in the littoral zone under the influence of waves and currents
|
|
|
Littoral transport
|
The movement of littoral drift along the shoreline by waves and currents. Includes movement parallel (longshore transport) and perpindicular (on-offshore transport) to the shore
|
|
|
Live staking
|
A bioengineering technique in which cuttings from living branches are inserted and tamped into the ground, where they eventually take root
